Clickmarks Announces the release
of the Clickmarks Transcoding and
Rendering Engine

Clickmarks, a provider of software

announced the release of the Clickmarks
Transcoding and Rendering Engine
(TRE):
The patented Transcoding and Rendering
Engine (TRE) enables display of
content to and receiving of inputs
from any device, including WAP phones,
iMode devices, PDAs, pagers, desktop
and laptop computers. The TRE’s
features include:
- Detecting device capabilities
such as device types, browser
types, device real estate (screen
size), memory size, markup languages
supported etc.
- Transcoding any HTML/XML content
selected by the end user for display
on the target device. The TRE
operates at the granularity of
user-selected content, such as
specifically selected tables or
forms from any existing web page
or web based interactive application.
- Building and rendering a customized
user interface for different device
types. The TRE takes as input
an XML description of the UI,
and generates the appropriate
output for the target device.
- Optimizing the output for device
characteristics such as screen
size, input modes, etc.
- Optimizing the output for taking
care of device-specific memory
limitations for data to receive
and display.
- Automatically handling differences
between browser implementations
for a given mark-up language,
e.g. Nokia's WML browser vs. Ericsson's
WML browser.
- Multilingual content display
to display any language content
on devices that do not natively
support such languages.
- Image resizing to fit the specific
display capabilities of the device
being used.

into a format that can be displayed

drop tabular content (e.g., headline

bank account summaries, e-mail inbox,
etc.) and access it from any device,
