Clickmarks Seals Joint Marketing
Deal With Sun
Plan to Jointly Promote Clickmarks
Portlet Factory for Sun Java Enterprise
System
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA – August
30, 2004
Clickmarks, Inc. today announced
an agreement with Sun Microsystems
(Nasdaq: SUNW) to jointly market
The Clickmarks Portlet Factory for
the Sun Java(TM) Enterprise System.
The Clickmarks Portlet Factory allows
customers to build portlets that
access content and functionality
from enterprise Web, mainframe and
Microsoft Windows applications,
and deploy them to the Java(TM)
System Portal Server, shortening
development cycles and simplifying
integration. These components can
be used independently or strung
together into automated processes
and workflows, which can be exposed
within the portal. As part of the
agreement, Sun customers will be
able to download Clickmarks software
and obtain 2 free Portlet (run-time)
and 1 free Studio (development environment)
licenses.
The Clickmarks Portlet Factory
includes a visual application design
tool that enables programmers of
various skill levels to quickly
build applications, Web services
and portlets, using Clickmarks'
patented Presentation
Level Integration™ (PLI)
technology. The Portlet Factory
for Java Enterprise System has been
integrated with the Java System
Access Manager, and works with the
Java System Web Server, Application
Server, and the Portal Server's
JSR 168 portlet container to provide
a seamless customer experience.
The same integration level as sun's
own portal technology within Java
Enterprise System.
“Our customers and partners
are increasingly attracted to technologies
that simplify the creation of portlets
to access the applications driving
their business," said David
Bryant, director of marketing for
Portal Products at Sun. "Developers
of varying experience levels can
build and deploy portlets quickly
and easily with the Clickmarks Portlet
Factory, which can save them time
and money, giving them a greater
sense of control and flexibility
in their portal environments."
“Sun has hundreds of portal
customers, many of whom want to
access enterprise applications via
their portals without undertaking
a time-consuming, complicated integration
effort,” said Umair Khan,
Clickmarks President and Chief Executive
Officer. “The Clickmarks Portlet
Factory will help them achieve their
desired result in a fraction of
the time and expense it would take
to build portlets using traditional
means.”
