NTC Rolls-out Multilingual Mobile
Information Portal for Thousands
of World Cup Visitors Using the
Clickmarks Enterprise Suite
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA - June 26,
2002
Clickmarks Inc., a provider of
software infrastructure products
for application development and
integration, today announced the
release of a multilingual "Mobile
Information Portal for World Cup
2002" by its partner, Nippon
information Technology Consulting
Co., Ltd. (NTC). The soccer information
portal, centered around this June's
FIFA World Cup, is the only information
portal that allows the display of
Japanese, Korean and Chinese text
information on a single mobile device.
Utilizing the same technology, NTC
is planning to launch a more comprehensive
multilingual information transmission
service for travel agencies, hotels
and content providers.
This service is the first product
offered under the recently announced
strategic relationship between Clickmarks
and NTC - and will serve to greatly
expand the reach of Clickmarks'
infrastructure products in the Japanese
market. The multilingual mobile
information products and services
allow visitors to Japan to view
information in their native language
on mobile phones in Japan - even
though the Japanese phones do not
have built-in support for those
foreign-languages. NTC services
utilizing this technology will enable
visitors to obtain useful information
during their stays in Japan, in
various languages including English,
Korean and Chinese, as well as Japanese.
"Mobile Information Portal
for World Cup 2002" is seen
as a trial of this concept, and
targets the thousands of foreign
visitors, including Korean and Chinese,
who will travel to Japan for the
tournament. The service will provide
information on the World Cup as
well as commonly requested tourist
information and resources around
each Japanese host city and stadium.
"Success in a competitive
market-space will depend on the
ability to deploy revenue generating
applications quickly and inexpensively
", said Mr. Hideya Inoue, Senior
Executive Vice President of NTC
and former Executive Vice President
of NTT Communications. "We
have used the Clickmarks technology
internally over the past few months
and are excited about the breadth
and depth of new business solutions
it lets us create through the extension
of existing e-business resources."
"Our ability to mine disparate
applications and content sources
at the presentation layer, thus
allowing NTC to rapidly develop
these content rich applications
quickly and inexpensively, further
validates the value of our products
for our system integration partners
and their enterprise clients,"
said Mr. Umair Khan, President and
Chief Executive Officer of Clickmarks.
The MIP (Trial Edition) is accessible
from May 31st till July 10, 2002
at http://cm1.ntc.jp/top.html. The
portal will be accessible through
NTT Docomo and AU device. (The supported
devices are NTTDoCoMo NM502i, FOMA
P2101V and D211i, and also the C408P
of KDDI Corp.)
