Clickmarks Awarded Patent for
Presentation Level Integration (PLI)
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA - April 28,
2003
Clickmarks, a provider of software
solutions for web and wireless application
development, has been awarded United
States Patent no. 6,438,575 for
its Presentation
Level Integration (PLI) technology.
The patent applies to the Clickmarks
Enterprise Suite™, a software
suite for developing web and wireless
applications by re-using existing
software application infrastructure.
Presentation
Level Integration allows existing
application functionality to be
non-invasively re-used in a new
application, by extracting business
functionality through the user interface
of the existing application. This
technique, also known as non-invasive
integration, allows almost any application
to be re-used in a new environment,
for example in the context of a
portal, or from a mobile device,
without expensive modification to
or downtime of the existing application.
"This technology will change
the way enterprises create decision
support and workflow automation
solutions,” explained Quinton
Zondervan, Chief Technology Officer
at Clickmarks. "Presentation
Level Integration makes it possible
for companies to leverage their
existing software assets cheaply
and quickly, thus achieving increases
in productivity at a much lower
cost than through traditional integration
and application development methods.
Because the Clickmarks Suite comes
with built-in connectors for Database,
Mainframe, Web, Windows and Java
applications, Presentation
Level Integration can be applied
out of the box for building web,
portal, or mobile solutions today."
"Enterprise Solutions built
using Clickmarks PLI technology
are more cost effective, require
less development effort, and have
minimal impact on a company's existing
infrastructure", says Jacob
Thomas, Managing Director of Enterprise
Mobilization at Unisys Corporation.
"This results in significant
ROI and shorter payback periods
for enterprise mobilization initiatives.
Unisys is working closely with Clickmarks
to create PLI-based solutions for
mobilizing enterprise business processes
without exploding its IT budget
or re-inventing its software infrastructure.”
