Portal ScreenshotPortal frameworks provide enterprises with a simple yet effective mechanism for delivering personalized content and applications to their employees, suppliers and customers. They offer a single point of access to the enterprise's resources and ease the administration of IT services, thereby making the enterprise more agile.

Portlet Creation Challenges

  • Most high value portlets
    – are an extension of existing systems and applications
    – combine functionality from disparate systems
  • Building high value portlets is
    – time consuming and expensive
    – requires skilled programmers and domain experts

Clickmarks’ patented Presentation Level Integration™ (PLI) technology allows rapid and inexpensive integration of components of different business systems.

How PLI lowers the Portlet Creation Barrier

  • Build portlets by non-invasively integrating and extending existing applications
  • Very low time and capital investment
  • Reduction of project risk

JCA Streamlines Integration

Clickmarks PLI technology already paved a way for integration, now, using the JCA (Java Connector Architecture), legacy application integration are quickly being redefined in the following ways:

  1. The Java Connector Architecture (JCA) is a way to access Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) from a J2EE environment using a standard API.
  2. Connecting to systems, invoking functions, and passing data is all done in a standard way for all legacy systems. Thus, once you have implemented an integration point with one enterprise system using JCA, others become easier to implement.
  3. JCA wizards allow all the functions exposed by a particular EIS to be visually navigated and configured.

Enabling SOA with Standards Support

As the industry moves to implementing Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), Clickmarks, through is implementation of industry standards, provides powerful tools to create the building blocks of SOA. Clickmarks’ support of the web services, JSR-168 and WSRP protocols ensures that any application created using Clickmarks can be consumed as a standard service by portals or other applications. Developers are provided the ability to reuse portlets in any portal framework across the intranet or internet.

Workflow Management

Clickmarks’ visual application design tool allows the developer to specify complex workflows that tie together and add business logic between integration points. Using this capability, developers can take their enterprise’s existing business processes – which may involve complex interaction with many different systems and between different people – and streamline them, building composite applications that lower the time and cost associated with everyday tasks.

Key Application Areas

  • Workflow and Business Process Automation
  • Information Processing
  • Content Retrieval and Collection
    – Extract content from databases, websites and non-web applications
    – Retrieve information from multiple sources, combine and present in a unified view
